Are you dreaming of getting engaged in Lapland but don't know where to start? Read this guide and start planning your proposal in Finnish Lapland! ELOPEMENT ADVENTURE SESSION PLANNING GUIDES Plus GALLERIES ABOUT CONTACT PRICING Plus The ultimate guide to get engaged in Finnish Lapland. HOW TO PLAN A PROPOSAL IN LAPLAND Lapland is the unique bland of quiet wilderness and cosy atmosphere, creating the perfect romantic setting to ask your love in marriage. CONSIDERING TO PROPOSE IN LAPLAND? Lapland untouched wilderness foster genuine moments in complete intimacy. Getting engaged in Lapland is ideal for couples seeking an adventure that celebrate love and connection in their purest form. Let Lapland’s pristine beauty bear witness to your love story as you propose amongst stunning landscapes. I’m Marion, a local photographer, dedicated to helping couples create meaningful marriage proposals. I craft and photograph experiences centered on genuine moments, that let your love shine while embracing the beauty of Lapland. 1. WHY THE WILDERNESS IS PERFECT FOR A PROPOSAL. In the quiet embrace of the wild, every tree, every mountain, and every star feels like it’s part of a grand design, crafted just for that moment. The rustle of leaves or the soft ripple of a lake replaces the need for music, the forest or the ethereal glow of the snow outshine any man-made decor. In nature’s sanctuary, simplicity becomes elegance. 2. YOUR ENGAGEMENT SHOULD BE MORE THAN PRETTY PHOTOS. The true magic lies in the authenticity of the moment, not in how perfectly it’s staged. When the moment is filled with genuine emotion, nervous smiles, heartfelt words, and the raw beauty of your surroundings, it becomes far more meaningful than any posed shot. Photos will reflect that natural joy and excitement, capturing the real love you share. Let the proposal be a deeply personal experience first, where the love between you shines brighter than any backdrop. The best memories are those that live in your heart, not just in a photograph. 3. DECOR or SIMPLICITY? Lapland's wilderness shine in simplicity, it allows the focus to remain on the love and connection you share. In the quiet elegance of simplicity, nothing distracts from the raw emotion of the proposal, the words, the setting, and the feeling of being entirely present with each other. Simplicity embraces the purity of the moment, letting the natural surroundings or the intimacy between you be the only backdrop needed. Simplicity lets love take center stage, creating an atmosphere that feels timeless and real. 4.WHEN TO START PLANNING? Winter (December to March): If you’re dreaming of a snowy wonderland, start planning 3-6 months in advance. This allows time to secure accommodations, activities, and any special experience you want to include. Autumn (August to October): For proposals amid stunning autumn colors, start planning 2-3 months in advance. This timing will help you choose the best weeks for vibrant foliage. 5. BOOK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER FIRST. Booking your photographer before you start planning your proposal is a wise decision. Popular photographers, especially in sought-after locations like Lapland, can get booked up quickly, especially during peak seasons. By securing your photographer early, you ensure that you have someone talented and experienced. Once you have your photographer lined up, you can collaborate with them to tailor your proposal plans. They can provide insights on the best locations, lighting conditions, and times of day. A photographer who understands the intimacy of this moment (Hi there! ) can blend into the background, allowing for candid shots of the proposal and genuine reactions. This authenticity will reflect the true emotions of the moment. By prioritizing your photographer, you set the foundation for a beautifully documented proposal, ensuring that you can cherish those memories for a lifetime. 6.BEST LOCATIONS TO PROPOSE IN LAPLAND. Levi Levi offers a chairlift ride to the summit, allowing you to enjoy stunning panoramic views without breaking a sweat. Pyhä - Luosto Less commercialized than other destinations, allowing for a more intimate experience. You can find quiet spots amidst the natural beauty, perfect for a private proposal away from crowds. Sonkajarvi Located just a 25-minute drive from Rovaniemi, Sonka offers a short and easy hike to the hilltop, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views and a peaceful, secluded atmosphere. Riisitunturi National Park Known for its beautiful fell landscapes and wintery spruce trees covered in snow, Riisitunturi offers a magical setting for a winter proposal. Ruka Ruka is an idyllic spot for a proposal, surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of Lapland. For those seeking a bit of adventure, the Valtavaara Trail offers a stunning hike with unforgettable scenery. 7. HOW TO PROPOSE WITH THE NORTHERN LIGHTS? The Northern Lights are a breathtaking natural phenomenon, but they’re also unpredictable. Even during the best season, they might not appear for several days in a row, so planning your proposal around them can be really risky. No one can guarantee you’ll see them on a specific date. Auroras depend entirely on weather and solar activity, flexibility is key. Set aside at least three days together to give you the best possible chance to witness them. Avoid booking a big Northern Lights tour, sitting cramped in a bus, stopping on the roadside with cars passing and groups of people around you isn’t exactly the intimate setting you’d want for a proposal. We’ll also make sure to have a meaningful backup plan for a daytime proposal on your final day, just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. Spending several days together not only increases your chances of seeing the Northern Lights, but also gives you time to truly experience Lapland like a local. Think of it as three magical days exploring Lapland with your local friend, discovering hidden places, enjoying the quiet beauty of nature, and creating memories that go far beyond the proposal itself. 8. ACTIVITIES 1. Husky Sledding Adventure Book a husky sledding tour through the wilderness. After the ride, propose surrounded by the pristine landscape. 2. Snowshoeing or Hiking Take a snowshoeing or hiking trip to a scenic viewpoint. As you reach a breathtaking overlook or a tranquil forest clearing, take a moment to express your love and pop the question. 3. Reindeer Sleigh Ride Enjoy a reindeer sleigh ride through the snow. After the ride, you can propose in a picturesque spot, perhaps with warm blankets and a hot drink. 4. Snowmobiling Adventure Embark on a snowmobiling tour through the stunning winter landscape. After an exhilarating ride, stop in a beautiful, remote location to propose, surrounded by the tranquility of nature. 5. Skiing Spend a day skiing on the pristine slopes of Lapland. At the top of a mountain or a scenic viewpoint, take a moment to enjoy the view and propose while surrounded by the breathtaking landscape. 6. Bonfire Under the Stars Organize a private bonfire in a scenic spot. Enjoy a warm fire, hot cocoa, and marshmallows, and propose under the stars. 7. Private Dinner Arrange for a private dinner in a cozy cabin or yurt. Create a romantic setting with candles and fairy lights. 8. Sunset Proposal Plan your proposal around sunset, find a viewpoint to enjoy the changing colors of the sky together before you ask the question. 9. HOW TO KEEP YOUR PROPOSAL A SECRET? Create a cover story: Tell your partner the trip is purely for sightseeing or a special getaway, like a celebration of something else (e.g., birthday, anniversary). Present your outings as typical vacation activities without hinting at the proposal. Keep your photographer incognito: There are several discreet ways to have a photographer capture your proposal without arousing suspicion. One option is to have the photographer pose as a guide, I even have a mock tour-company name you can use as a cover, or as a fellow tourist if the activity involves a provider. Another is to have the photographer positioned at the agreed location to shoot from a distance. And if arranging a photo session wouldn’t seem unusual to your partner, that can also serve as the perfect cover. Hide the ring (if you have one) : Your partner will most likely share a suitcase with you, so make sure to hide it in a place where they won't go looking for something. Swap the ring box for a slim, inconspicuous one that won’t create a bulge or draw attention. You can even use a small pouch or zippered wallet to make it less obvious. Remember to always carry valuable items with you during travel , as checked-in luggages can get frequently lost or delayed. 10. ITINERARY EXEMPLE DAY 1 : 10.30 : Meeting at your accommodation & departure to the location. 11.00 : Hike to the hilltop. 11.30 : Proposal at sunrise. 11.45 : Hot cocoa and celebration. 12.00 : Hike down while taking portraits. 19.00 : Private dinner to spot Northern Lights. DAY 2 : 09.00 : Meeting at your accommodation & departure. 09.30 : Reindeer farm visit. YOUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER IN LAPLAND Hi! - Northern Light porposal in Ylläs Äkäslompolo - Marion Lefevre Photography
Planning a Northern Lights proposal? Discover Maxence & Raphaël's magical engagement in Lapland with blue hour, a campfire, and the aurora above Ylläs. ELOPEMENT ADVENTURE SESSION PLANNING GUIDES Plus GALLERIES ABOUT CONTACT PRICING Plus NORTHERN LIGHT PROPOSAL IN YLLÄS ÄKÄSLOMPOLO Maxence & Raphaël Planning with Maxence Maxence contacted me with one dream in mind: to propose beneath the Northern Lights. He already knew that planning such an important moment around nature's unpredictable phenomena would be a challenge. Rather than relying on the uncertainty of the aurora, I suggested a different approach. Instead of proposing at night and hoping the Northern Lights would appear, possibly ending in a huge disappointment, I encouraged him to plan the proposal during blue hour, when Lapland is bathed in its soft polar light. This way, we could create a beautiful moment we knew we could count on, while leaving the possibility of seeing the Northern lights later in the evening. After talking through the different options, we decided the perfect cover story would be to explore Ylläs together under the pretense of a couples' photo shoot. Since Maxence was always the one behind the camera during their travels, it wasn't difficult to convince Raphaël that he simply wanted to have a few professional photos of the two of them for a change. The plan was for Maxence to propose during the magical blue hour, before we headed into a nearby forest for a cosy campfire picnic. Afterwards, they would continue to the beautiful hotel room booked for the night, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows. If the Northern Lights decided to make an appearance, they could end their engagement day watching the aurora dance across the sky from the comfort of their bed. The day of the proposal I met Maxence and Raphaël at their hotel, before driving together to Äkäslompolo. From there, we set off on foot through the forest, making our way to the foot of a fell that we'd chosen. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful. A perfectly clear sky was painted in soft shades of pink and purple as blue hour settled over the landscape. It was there, that Maxence got down on one knee. Raphaël was completely taken by surprise! After giving them a few private moments to soak it all in, I led them to a nearby forest where we lit a cosy campfire. Wrapped in warm reindeer hides, we toasted marshmallows, sipped hot chocolate, and enjoyed local pastries while watching darkness slowly settle. The crystal-clear sky was exactly what we had hoped for, although it came with one small catch: a brisk -25°C (-13°F). As magical as the evening was, we were all more than ready to head back to their hotel to warm up. And then, just as they settled into their room, Lapland offered one final surprise. The sky came alive. The Northern Lights began dancing overhead, filling the night with ribbons of green. After months of planning and adapting our expectations around nature's unpredictable phenomena, everything had fallen perfectly into place. From the glowing colors of blue hour to the cosy campfire, and finally the northern lights illuminating the sky outside their window, it was the kind of day you simply couldn't have dreamed better. If a big wedding isn't your dream, an intimate wedding in Lapland might be perfect. From booking an officiant to the best locations, I'll guide you from A to Z. ELOPEMENT ADVENTURE SESSION PLANNING GUIDES Plus GALLERIES ABOUT CONTACT PRICING Plus HOW TO PLAN A WEDDING IN LAPLAND The 2026-2027 guide to an intimate Lapland wedding THINKING TO HAVE YOUR WEDDING IN LAPLAND? If you’re not into the whole big wedding thing, an intimate wedding in Lapland is for you. Imagine saying your vows surrounded by peaceful nature and breathtaking views. This kind of setting gives you the space to be fully present, celebrate your love in a way that’s true to you , and ditch the rulebook completely. If you’re drawn to wild landscapes, crave something intimate, and want your wedding to reflect who you really are, Lapland might just be the perfect place. I'm Marion, in addition to photography, I help couples plan their wedding in Finnish Lapland. My mission is to ensure that your experience is not only beautiful but also authentic and true to the unique connection you share. Together we’ll create memories that you'll cherish for a lifetime. WHY HAVE AN INTIMATE WEDDING IN LAPLAND NATURAL WONDERS From the vibrant autumn colors, to the northern lights, to the serene snow-covered landscapes of winter and the Midnight Sun in summer, Lapland is a land of breathtaking natural wonders, making your wedding an out of ordinary experience no matter the season. PRISTINE REGION With 7 National Parks and 5 million hectares of forest, Lapland is the perfect destination for couples seeking pristine nature. Lapland is considered the most peaceful place in Europe to its vast, uninhabited wilderness and low population density, creating a sense of serenity and privacy that is hard to find elsewhere. FREEDOM TO EXPLORE The unique concept of Everyman's Right opens the door to experiences in nature. It allows couples to celebrate a wedding in breathtaking landscapes, free from many of the usual venues costs and permits. THE BEST SEASONS TO GET MARRIED IN LAPLAND WINTER (DECEMBER TO MARCH) During these months, Lapland is blanketed in snow, creating an ethereal winter landscapes that are out of this world. You'll have a chance to experience the Northern Lights. However, be prepared for freezing temperatures and limited daylight hours. If you dream of a winter wedding in Lapland, this is undoubtedly the most magical time. AUTUMN (LATE AUGUST TO OCTOBER) For a quieter, picturesque setting with stunning fall foliage, autumn is an excellent choice. Lapland is empty of tourists, you'll have the landscapes all to yourselves , experience reindeers roaming on the road and the beautiful autumn colors. Autumn is also the best season to see the Northern Lights! If I would plan my own wedding in Lapland, I would choose autumn and particularly September. THE BEST WEDDING VENUES IN LAPLAND MODERN FOREST WEDDING Combining modern Nordic design with breathtaking natural surroundings, this is a stunning venue for larger weddings in Lapland. The resort features stylish private cabins, a restaurant that can host up to 50 guests, a beautiful lakefront sauna, and direct access to a national park. LOG RESTAURANT AND GLASS HUTS WEDDING This venue is a beautiful choice for a small wedding in nature. Its glass huts allow to watch the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed, the log restaurant serves an exceptional dining experience. The venue also offers a range of activities. With its warm, welcoming atmosphere and peaceful surroundings, it's perfectly suited for 25–30 guests. HILLTOP WEDDING UNDER THE OPEN SKY Probably the most scenic wedding venue across Lapland. L ocated at the top of a privately owned fell. You'll be transported sleigh rides or snowmobile to the hilltop, where you'll have the wedding and enjoy a fine dining meal. The glass dining space and altar facing the views are ideal for northern lights. The space can accommodate up to 10 guests. GUESTS or JUST THE TWO OF YOU? A WEDDING THAT REFLECTS YOU Think about how you truly envision your wedding day. If your dream is an intimate, deeply personal experience without the hassles of a traditional wedding, then having no guests might be the perfect choice. But if the idea of excluding your loved ones is heartbreaking, then inviting a few carefully chosen guests becomes a meaningful decision. BUDGET Accounting for travel and accommodation costs for guests is important. Decide if your (or their) budget can accommodate these additional expenses. Remember that a smaller guest list or no guests at all can significantly reduce costs, allowing you to allocate more funds to other aspects of your wedding or honeymoon. ARCTIC CLIMATE If you're thinking about a winter wedding in Lapland and inviting guests, be mindful that the extreme cold can limit your options. Overall, having guests might require some compromises in your experience, so think about what matters most to you and prioritize accordingly. WHEN TO START PLANNING DESTINATION WEDDING - WITH GUESTS If you're planning a destination wedding in Lapland, especially with more than 10 guests, it's essential to start planning well in advance. Winter venues and accommodations that can host larger groups are extremely limited, and availability fills up quickly. I recommend beginning the planning process at least 18 months before your desired wedding date. INTIMATE WEDDING - NO GUEST If you're planning an intimate wedding for just the two of you, you'll have far more flexibility. Lapland offers plenty of beautiful locations and accommodation options for couples, making it possible to plan on a much shorter timeline. If you're choosing a symbolic ceremony, you can realistically plan your wedding in just a few weeks. However, I recommend starting 3–4 months in advance to give yourselves the widest choice of dates and ensure the most experienced vendors are still available. If you're planning a legal wedding in Lapland, you'll need to allow extra time for the required paperwork. The legal process takes a minimum of three months, so I recommend starting 6–12 months before your wedding date. This gives you plenty of time to complete the documentation, secure an officiant, and plan your day without feeling rushed. LAPLAND WEDDING PLANNER AND VENDORS : CHOOSE LOCAL The Arctic environment requires experience, local knowledge, and the ability to work in extreme conditions. A local vendor knows how to handle the challenges of freezing temperatures, and the challenging polar light. Capturing a wedding in -25°C (-13°F) is vastly different from working in a temperate climate, camera batteries drain rapidly, condensation can damage equipment, and the soft, low winter light requires expertise to create beautiful, consistent images. Working with local vendors gives you access to the very best locations and experiences. A local vendor knows which locations and venues are truly exceptional, t heir first-hand knowledge of the region ensures you'll experience an authentic side of Lapland that goes far beyond the typical tourist attractions. No matter how experienced they are, vendors based outside Lapland can't match the local knowledge that comes from living and working in the region year-round. YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER Hi, I'm Marion, Years ago, I fell head over heels for Lapland and made it my home. - Finland Elopement Guide / Updated for 2026-2027
Elope in Finland : the quitest country in the world. From legal requirements, the best locations, seasons, and how to plan an elopement in Finland. ELOPEMENT ADVENTURE SESSION PLANNING GUIDES Plus GALLERIES ABOUT CONTACT PRICING Plus FINLAND ELOPEMENT GUIDE How to elope in Finland in 2026-2027 FOR THE NATURE LOVING COUPLES The ancient forests, thousands of lakes, rugged arctic fells, archipelago coastline make Finland one of Europe's last great wilderness destinations for couples seeking an adventurous elopement. A decade ago, I took my first trip to one of Finland's northernmost national parks and instantly fell in love with its raw beauty. Before long, I made it my home. If you seek an elopement far from the crowds, surrounded by silence and nature, Finland is the perfect place to celebrate your story. YOUR FINLAND ELOPEMENT AND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER Hi! I'm Marion, your elopement and intimate wedding photographer based in Finland. My role goes far beyond taking photographs. I'll guide you to breathtaking locations and show you a side of Finland I fell in love with a decade ago. Together, we'll create a day that feels like the adventure of a lifetime, surrounded by the silence and wild nature of the happiest, or shall I say, quietest country in the world. INQUIRE NOW Awards & Features THE BEST SEASON TO ELOPE IN FINLAND AUTUMN (SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER) The landscapes are changing colors, turning from green to deep oranges and burgundy, the nights are crisp and the light moodier, this is the most comfortable and photogenic season of all! If I would plan my own elopement in Finland, I would choose this season for the mild temperatures, unlimited adventures, the landscapes are jaw dropping, It's a very quiet - tourist free season, plus it's one of the best time of year to see the Northern Lights! WINTER (DECEMBER-FEBRUARY) You'll experience well below freezing temperatures, if you're looking for a winter elopement, the North of Finland is a winter wonderland 5 months of the year. Above the arctic circle, the daylight is extremely short, January is the best time to experience the beautiful shades of pastel pink and blue from the polar nights. I think it's one of the most beautiful and magical winter time! December to February are the busiest time of year for tourism. SPRING (MARCH-MAY) Spring is a great time if you're wanting a bit of snow, but don't want the freezing temperatures of deep winter. The sun comes back, the snow and ice melts, this is Finn's favorite time of year to go skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing. I would aim for March for the best spring experience. SUMMER (JUNE-AUGUST) The season of the Midnight Sun and lush landscapes. Summer in Finland offers endless daylight, vibrant green forests, beautiful archipelago coastlines, and countless lakes. It's also one of the quietest times of the year to visit, you'll enjoy many of the country's most beautiful places almost entirely to yourselves. SYMBOLIC or LEGAL CEREMONY IN FINLAND? Finland is one of the few countries in Europe where you can legally get married almost anywhere, you're not limited to a church or city hall. Officiants even often hike or participate to activities with us! Finland is one of the only Nordic countries where civil ceremonies can be held so freely in nature. Better yet, civil ceremonies in Finland are far from impersonal, most officiants are happy to co-create a meaningful and personal ceremony that reflects your relationship and your journey. Of course, a symbolic ceremony is always an option too. Many of my couples choose one for the complete freedom it offers, allowing them to exchange their vows in total privacy, with no one else present but the two of them. HOW TO LEGALLY GET MARRIED IN FINLAND As a foreigner, a legally binding ceremony involves several steps and requires specific documentation (I will accompany you throughout the process) . If the idea of going through the paperwork is too daunting, a legal ceremony in your home country and a symbolic ceremony filled with meanings in Finland is also an option. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS 1. Both parties need valid passports. 2. Certificate of no impediments (CNI) : You need a document from your home country proving that you are legally free to marry. 3. All documents should be in English or Finnish. If they’re not, you may need to have them translated and possibly legalized or apostilled. BOOKING YOUR OFFICIANT The local register office will need to review your documents of no impediment before the ceremony. The officiant can travel almost anywhere for the celebration. I’ll take care of finding your civil officiant for you, so you can focus on what truly matters and leave the legalities to me. THE FINAL STEP After the wedding, you'll get an official marriage certificate to register the marriage in your home country. This may be necessary for changing your name or updating your marital status. WHO CAN GET MARRIED IN FINLAND You do not need to be a resident of Finland to get married here. However, you must meet the legal requirements : being at least 18 years old and having two witnesses who are at least 15 years old. Finland also fully recognizes and celebrates same-sex marriages. - Winter wedding in Levi - Marion Lefevre Photography
This wedding in the heart of Levi and ceremony beneath a canopy of whispering trees was a sacred pause in time, a moment meant only for them, to seal their forever amidst the stillness of nature. ELOPEMENT ADVENTURE SESSION PLANNING GUIDES Plus GALLERIES ABOUT CONTACT PRICING Plus INTIMATE WEDDING IN LEVI Adele & Michael Their story and how it all started Adele & Michael reached out to me in a state of panic just two weeks before their wedding in Levi. The photographer they had originally booked had suddenly cancelled, leaving them without a photographer, without a timeline, and without any real plan beyond the ceremony time and location they had already arranged at the Northern Light Ranch . During our first call, I could immediately sense how overwhelmed they felt. They were still in Australia, thousands of kilometres away, trying to plan a wedding with so many unanswered questions and only days to go. As soon as we finished talking, I sat down and sketched out a first draft of their wedding day timeline. It wasn't perfect yet, but it gave them something they hadn't had before: a clear vision of how their day could unfold. Just a few hours after I sent it over, they were ready to jump into the adventure with me, and together we began transforming those uncertain final days into the wedding experience they had been dreaming of. What they wished for The couple had chosen a wedding that was entirely about the two of them, a day free from family drama, endless logistics, and the pressure of hosting dozens, if not hundreds, of guests. Both self-described introverts, who laughingly referred to themselves as "socially awkward," they couldn't imagine a celebration that suited them better than an intimate adventure shared between just the two of them. They also longed for a destination that felt worlds away from their everyday life. Coming from the warmth of Australia, Kittilä offered exactly the sense of escape they were searching for. Levi felt wonderfully remote and exotic. How I helped them With only a few days to go before the wedding, I knew we had to move quickly. Thankfully, they had chosen November, a much quieter time than the busy December season, which gave us just enough flexibility to create something great last minute. Knowing they were dreaming of a winter wonderland surrounded by nature, I jumped into my car and drove to Levi to scout locations. Early November can be unpredictable when it comes to snow, so there was no guarantee we'd find the landscapes they had imagined. To my delight, a few spots had already been transformed by a fresh blanket of snow. Back at my office, I sent them the locations I'd discovered, along with reference photos of each one. Together, we chose our favourite, planning to explore it before heading to their ceremony at Northern Light Ranch. From there, everything started falling into place. I built a timeline around the ceremony they had already arranged, weaving in quiet moments in nature and allowing plenty of time to simply enjoy the experience. Within a day, what had begun as a stressful situation had turned into a clear plan, and, more importantly, a wedding day they could finally look forward to. The itinerary 7.00 : Hair & Makeup 09.00 : Getting dressed 10.00 : Departure to the location 10.30 : Explore the area & enjoy the nature 11.00 : Hot chocolate at a nearby café 12.00 : Forest trail exploration 13.00 : Back at the Northern Light Ranch for lunch 14.00 : Ceremony in the forest behind the hotel 15.00 : Private celebration in your room Adele & Michael's words We had the amazing luck of being able to book Marion for our elopement photos when our original photographer had to cancel only 2 weeks before our big day. Marion hopped on a call with us and sent us the proposed itinerary straight after. Our day was perfect and is in HUGE part thanks to Marion! As quite socially awkward people, my husband and I were only too happy to be guided by her easy cues and directions. She knew exactly what to do to get us to relax and look natural (no easy feat lol)! We were shooting from around 9am to 3pm so it was a big day but Marion had us taking breaks and making sure we stayed warm between photos. The photos really speak for themselves. Marion captured exactly what we wanted, the magical landscape, our happiness and all the beautiful moments. My advice to anyone would be to just book her in, she is AMAZING! - Vow renewal in Äkäslompolo Lapland - Marion Lefevre Photography
This vow renewal in the beauty of Lapland's autumn colors was a day woven with magic and meaning. We began with a hike through the untouched wilderness, surrounded by towering pines and the crisp northern air, each step taking us deeper into the heart of nature’s beauty. ELOPEMENT ADVENTURE SESSION PLANNING GUIDES Plus GALLERIES ABOUT CONTACT PRICING Plus AUTUMN VOW RENEWAL IN AKASLOMPOLO LAPLAND Tiia & Jukka How it started Tiia, Jukka, and I weren't strangers anymore. I had photographed them a few years earlier, so when we discussed renewing their vows in Lapland , I already knew what mattered most to them. Both have spent their lives deeply connected to the wilderness, making Lapland's endless rolling fells the only place that felt truly fitting this part of their story . Why did we choose this location Although both of them were born in Lapland, I wanted them to discover somewhere new. I wanted them to experience that childlike sense of wonder again, to stand above endless landscapes and gaze across the forests as if they were seeing them for the very first time. This is one of those places I find myself returning to again and again, not only for its breathtaking views but also for the feeling of venturing deep into the wilderness while still being accessible as a day hike. Why in autumn? September is one of the most beautiful times to visit Lapland. It marks the arrival of ruska, the spectacular autumn season, when the wilderness transforms into a sea of vibrant color. The depth and richness these colors bring to the landscapes make autumn one of the most photogenic seasons. Beyond its incredible beauty, autumn offers some of the best hiking conditions of the year. The temperatures are cool yet comfortable, making long days outdoors enjoyable without the harsh winter cold. As the nights grow darker again, the Northern Lights return. And, after the summer months, the mosquitoes have finally disappeared. If you're dreaming of a hiking vow renewal in Lapland, or simply want to experience the untouched nature at its most colourful, September is hard to beat. It combines breathtaking scenery, crisp fresh air, peaceful hiking trails, and the possibility of witnessing the Aurora Borealis. - Elopement in Rovaniemi - Marion Lefevre Photography
Dreaming of an elopemement in Rovaniemi? Follow Chantal & Christophe's intimate ceremony in the frosty forest and river shore. ELOPEMENT ADVENTURE SESSION PLANNING GUIDES Plus GALLERIES ABOUT CONTACT PRICING Plus ELOPEMENT IN ROVANIEMI Chantal & Christophe Why they chose to elope in Rovaniemi Chantal and Christophe's elopement proves that love doesn't have a timeline. After 36 years together and raising their children, they had never imagined themselves tying the knot. Traditions simply never felt like who they were. After decades of shared life, they wished to celebrate their relationship. They dreamed of exchanging vows somewhere far from the ordinary, their search for the perfect elopement eventually led them to Rovaniemi, and from that moment, the adventure began. Being immersed in the landscape was essential to them. They envisioned peaceful forests, and the warmth of a shelter with a campfire. Rather than following traditions, they wanted a day built around their connection, and the wilderness that would witness it all. As Chantal beautifully put it: "We're celebrating what ties us together. We don't care about a white dresse and cake cutting." And that's exactly what their elopement in Rovaniemi was all about: creating an experience that felt deeply personal, where the focus wasn't on expectations, but on the love and the memories they already carried and the ones the would for the rest of their lives. What made their elopement unique Chantal's beautiful dress and cosy sweater : bridal but not traditional, Christophe's amazing leather jacket! The week of their elopement, a crisp -25°C (-13°F) covered Rovaniemi in a thick layer of frost that lasted until the day they left back home (talk about luck!) The celebration was super simple, but it was one of the most meaningful ones I've seen We planned the ceremony at dusk, so that we would have the entire trail to ourselves, and we did! Review Thank you for your warm, reassuring presence. Thanks to you, we were able to experience every moment with complete peace of mind. - Proposal in Pyhä Luosto - Marion Lefevre Photography
Follow Reed & Alison's unforgettable proposal in Pyhä Luosto, where a scenic winter hike, snowy landscapes and a cosy cabin created the perfect engagement. ELOPEMENT ADVENTURE SESSION PLANNING GUIDES Plus GALLERIES ABOUT CONTACT PRICING Plus PYHÄ-LUOSTO NATIONAL PARK PROPOSAL Reed & Alison Reed's inquiry Reed first reached out with a dream of proposing beneath the auroras. He and his partner had booked a three-day stay in Luosto at the beginning of November and hoped to catch them at least once during their trip. If everything aligned, getting engaged beneath the dancing lights would be the perfect moment. As magical as the idea sounded, I was immediately concerned about how realistic it was. With only a few days in Luosto, during one of the cloudiest months of the year, basing the proposal entirely on the appearance of the Lights felt incredibly risky. While I completely understood the appeal of such a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I suggested a different approach, one that would still leave room for the possibility of witnessing and photographing the auroras if conditions allowed, without making the proposal itself depend on a phenomenon that is so beautifully unpredictable and entirely beyond our control. After a video call, we agreed that the best plan would be to find a breathtaking, secluded location where they could enjoy the moment without the stress of depending on the Lights. Reed also dreamed of a snowy winter landscape, but once again, early November can be notoriously unpredictable. To maximise our chances of finding snow, I suggested heading to the top of a fell in Luosto, where winter tends to arrive a little earlier than in the valleys below. We also decided to keep the rest of the evening flexible. If the skies cleared and the aurora forecast looked promising, we would head back out together after the proposal to celebrate their engagement beneath nature's most spectacular light show. The day of the proposal I met Alison and Reed at their hotel, introducing myself as their hiking guide before we set off towards the trailhead. As we drove through the forests of Luosto, there was very little snow on the ground, but I quickly reassured them that conditions would be quite different higher up the fell. With every metre of elevation, our chances of finding a true winter landscape increased. At the trailhead, we fitted ice spikes to our boots. Although the temperatures were relatively mild for the season, patches of ice covered the path. We began our walk along a peaceful forest trail before gradually climbing higher into the fell. With every step, the scenery transformed. Frost-coated trees replaced the bare forest below, and it felt as though we were slowly crossing the threshold into winter. A little while later, we reached the summit. The viewpoint was completely empty, giving us the rare feeling of having the entire landscape to ourselves. We first stopped at the cosy cabin to warm up, lit a fire, and enjoyed a short rest before stepping back outside to take in the breathtaking panorama. Surrounded by snow-covered fells stretching to the horizon, Reed turned to Alison, dropped to one knee, and delivered the most heartfelt speech. After the proposal, we returned to the warmth of the cabin, where we celebrated with a snack beside the crackling fire. Reed & Alison's words We couldn’t be more thrilled with our experience with Marion and the beautiful photos she captured!I first reached out to Marion over the summer to plan a fall proposal in Lapland. From the very beginning, she was incredibly responsive, thoughtful, and professional. Since I wasn’t familiar with the area, I had a lot of questions and hesitations about where and how to propose, but Marion was a true pro. She offered fantastic suggestions and put together a variety of plans based on our relationship and vision for the day.Once we were in Lapland, everything exceeded expectations. Marion guided us on a wonderful hike, complete with thoughtful touches like snacks and warm drinks to enjoy along the way. When the moment came to surprise my girlfriend with the proposal, the setting was the stunning winter wonderland we had hoped for.Marion made the whole experience feel natural, relaxed, and truly magical. Everything felt authentic to us as a couple, and we are grateful that we trusted her with this meaningful moment in our lives. The final photos are wonderful and perfectly capture the emotions of the day. We’ve had countless friends and family reach out to say how amazing the photos are.If you’re considering a photoshoot in Lapland, whether for a proposal, engagement shoot, wedding, or any special moment, we highly recommend Marion.
