THINKING TO HAVE YOUR WEDDING IN LAPLAND?

If you’re not into the whole big wedding thing, an intimate wedding in Lapland is for you. Imagine saying your vows surrounded by peaceful nature and breathtaking views. This kind of setting gives you the space to be fully present, celebrate your love in a way that’s true to you, and ditch the rulebook completely. If you’re drawn to wild landscapes, crave something intimate, and want your wedding to reflect who you really are, Lapland might just be the perfect place.

I'm Marion, in addition to photography, I help couples plan their wedding in Finnish Lapland. My mission is to ensure that your experience is not only beautiful but also authentic and true to the unique connection you share. Together we’ll create memories that you'll cherish for a lifetime.

NATURAL WONDERS

From the vibrant autumn colors, to the northern lights, to the serene snow-covered landscapes of winter and the Midnight Sun in summer, Lapland is a land of breathtaking natural wonders, making your wedding an out of ordinary experience no matter the season.

PRISTINE REGION

With 7 National Parks and 5 million hectares of forest, Lapland is the perfect destination for couples seeking pristine nature. Lapland is considered the most peaceful place in Europe to its vast, uninhabited wilderness and low population density, creating a sense of serenity and privacy that is hard to find elsewhere.

FREEDOM TO EXPLORE

The unique concept of Everyman's Right opens the door to experiences in nature. It allows couples to celebrate a wedding in breathtaking landscapes, free from many of the usual venues costs and permits.

THE BEST SEASONS TO GET MARRIED IN LAPLAND

WINTER (DECEMBER TO MARCH)

During these months, Lapland is blanketed in snow, creating an ethereal winter landscapes that are out of this world. You'll have a chance to experience the Northern Lights. However, be prepared for freezing temperatures and limited daylight hours. If you dream of a winter wedding in Lapland, this is undoubtedly the most magical time.

AUTUMN (LATE AUGUST TO OCTOBER)

For a quieter, picturesque setting with stunning fall foliage, autumn is an excellent choice. Lapland is empty of tourists, you'll have the landscapes all to yourselves, experience reindeers roaming on the road and the beautiful autumn colors. Autumn is also the best season to see the Northern Lights! If I would plan my own wedding in Lapland, I would choose autumn and particularly September.

THE BEST WEDDING VENUES IN LAPLAND

MODERN FOREST WEDDING

Combining modern Nordic design with breathtaking natural surroundings, this is a stunning venue for larger weddings in Lapland. The resort features stylish private cabins, a restaurant that can host up to 50 guests, a beautiful lakefront sauna, and direct access to a national park.

LOG RESTAURANT AND GLASS HUTS WEDDING

This venue is a beautiful choice for a small wedding in nature. Its glass huts allow to watch the Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed, the log restaurant serves an exceptional dining experience. The venue also offers a range of activities. With its warm, welcoming atmosphere and peaceful surroundings, it's perfectly suited for 25–30 guests.

HILLTOP WEDDING UNDER THE OPEN SKY

Probably the most scenic wedding venue across Lapland. Located at the top of a privately owned fell. You'll be transported sleigh rides or snowmobile to the hilltop, where you'll have the wedding and enjoy a fine dining meal. The glass dining space and altar facing the views are ideal for northern lights. The space can accommodate up to 10 guests.

GUESTS or JUST THE TWO OF YOU?
A WEDDING THAT REFLECTS YOU
Think about how you truly envision your wedding day. If your dream is an intimate, deeply personal experience without the hassles of a traditional wedding, then having no guests might be the perfect choice. But if the idea of excluding your loved ones is heartbreaking, then inviting a few carefully chosen guests becomes a meaningful decision.

BUDGET
Accounting for travel and accommodation costs for guests is important. Decide if your (or their) budget can accommodate these additional expenses. Remember that a smaller guest list or no guests at all can significantly reduce costs, allowing you to allocate more funds to other aspects of your wedding or honeymoon.

ARCTIC CLIMATE

If you're thinking about a winter wedding in Lapland and inviting guests, be mindful that the extreme cold can limit your options.
Overall, having guests might require some compromises in your experience, so think about what matters most to you and prioritize accordingly.

WHEN TO START PLANNING

DESTINATION WEDDING - WITH GUESTS
If you're planning a destination wedding in Lapland, especially with more than 10 guests, it's essential to start planning well in advance. Winter venues and accommodations that can host larger groups are extremely limited, and availability fills up quickly. I recommend beginning the planning process at least 18 months before your desired wedding date.

INTIMATE WEDDING - NO GUEST

If you're planning an intimate wedding for just the two of you, you'll have far more flexibility. Lapland offers plenty of beautiful locations and accommodation options for couples, making it possible to plan on a much shorter timeline.

If you're choosing a symbolic ceremony, you can realistically plan your wedding in just a few weeks. However, I recommend starting 3–4 months in advance to give yourselves the widest choice of dates and ensure the most experienced vendors are still available.

If you're planning a legal wedding in Lapland, you'll need to allow extra time for the required paperwork. The legal process takes a minimum of three months, so I recommend starting 6–12 months before your wedding date. This gives you plenty of time to complete the documentation, secure an officiant, and plan your day without feeling rushed.

LAPLAND WEDDING PLANNER AND VENDORS : CHOOSE LOCAL

The Arctic environment requires experience, local knowledge, and the ability to work in extreme conditions.

A local vendor knows how to handle the challenges of freezing temperatures, and the challenging polar light. Capturing a wedding in -25°C (-13°F) is vastly different from working in a temperate climate, camera batteries drain rapidly, condensation can damage equipment, and the soft, low winter light requires expertise to create beautiful, consistent images.

Working with local vendors gives you access to the very best locations and experiences. A local vendor knows which locations and venues are truly exceptional, their first-hand knowledge of the region ensures you'll experience an authentic side of Lapland that goes far beyond the typical tourist attractions. No matter how experienced they are, vendors based outside Lapland can't match the local knowledge that comes from living and working in the region year-round.
